Hives suck!
Aug. 7th, 2008 10:13 amI went to a friend's house Saturday night in the wilds of Newnan, GA. Had a great time but unfortunately I was bitten by something or several somethings that my body fairly emphatically did not like. When I got home I just had what looked like a lot of mosquito bites and 2 red bites on my neck and arm that hurt like the dickens. I pretty much ignored them except for trying not to scratch too much.
Sadly, Monday they were still there and Tuesday new blotchy marks had appeared and were spreading out from my upper arms and upper thighs. They itch like the frickin chicken pox. So I put Hydrocortisone cream on them and hoped it would suffice. But no, more spreading and more itching so I added benadryl at the high dose that night. Still no better. I broke down and got a medrol dose pack (steroids) yesterday, which with the benadryl and the cream make things bearable if still itchy. The splotches are starting to fade, so hopefully by the time I finish the steroids it'll be all gone.
At least it was mostly not visible so I don't freak out the patients.
