Car problems
Feb. 7th, 2008 09:43 amYesterday was my day off, and in what has become typical fashion, I managed to upset my body somehow. My left shoulder(the other one)and the hip on that side are quite mad at me. Also, I had the mother of all headaches from the tornado spawning system (hope everyone's ok out there).
So I hung around the house doing as little as possible despite the huge amount of housework that needs tending to, and J kept me company until he had to leave for work. Which is when things got really bad. His car started making this awful ka-thunk sound once per wheel revolution when the wheel was turned. So he called into work, and went to Autozone where the guy there though it was an axle starting to go. EEP!
Neither of us knew of a mechanic in the area, so I called a friend who recommended a place about 10 miles away. I then called J back and stayed on the phone with him until he got there. Sadly, the mechanic said he couldn't look at it (it was very close to closing) and to come back this morning. So we both got up extra early this AM, drove both cars over there, left his behind and I came back to work. Now we're waiting on an update on whether it is actually the axle or it could be the less expensive CV joint. Either way, I envision a significant proportion of our emergency fund going poof! Drat it all.
In addition to wiping out the extra mula, it may mean not having a car in th evenings until J can get his fixed. It wasn't so bad yesterday since
reprobayt came to visit me, but I have plans Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that might have to be canceled or altered. Keep your fingers crossed peeps!
